Man held in Ireland after bringing dead body to collect pension



DUBLIN, Ireland: A 40-year-old man has been charged with two counts of deception after the body of a dead man was brought to a post office, in a bid to collect the dead man’s pension.

Irish gardai were alerted after the man’s body was taken into the post office in County Carlow by two local men.

Declan Haughney has been charged with two counts of deception.

A second man was being held, but has been released without charge.

Meanwhile, theGarda, was examining the "unexplained death of an elderly male," according to a statement.

RTE has reported that Haughney offered no plea in court and there was no application for bail.
