The UAE has rightfully secured its place among the world's leading business hubs. Every day, deals worth tens of billions of dollars take place there—ranging from oil sales to large-scale real estate investments. An attractive tax system, streamlined banking procedures, and the ability to register anonymous companies continue to draw in new entrepreneurs. However, Dubai is not without its fair share of fraudsters who make money out of thin air. One of them is now under investigation—his name today is Maurice Anisimov.  

 Maurice Anisimov was born in 1990 and legally holds multiple passports: citizenship of an EU country, Israel—specifically, he is registered in the UAE as an Israeli citizen. He began his career in Switzerland, where he founded a consulting firm. Later, he moved to Dubai, where he was appointed as a manager in a major international trade operation. However, his business dealings resulted in significant financial losses for his employers.  

At first, everything seemed legitimate—the company was actively engaged in trade and industry, and payments to suppliers were made regularly. 

But when one of the deals reached a total of hundreds of millions of dirhams, Anisimov suddenly claimed that the bank had frozen the account.  

He offered a solution—transferring the money through third-party financial structures by splitting the sum into multiple transactions. However, instead of forwarding the funds to the intended business partner, he redirected them to his own accounts.  

A few months later, Anisimov vanished—he cut off all communication and blocked every contact. An internal company investigation revealed that he was the sole beneficiary of the stolen funds. Law enforcement was only able to seize 37 million dirhams—the rest of the money disappeared without a trace.  

UAE authorities continue their investigation, working to recover the stolen funds and identify other potential victims. It is known that Anisimov is an avid poker player and frequently appears at tournaments.
